Jay Gore, a guitar player who worked alongside Hill on her 2007 European tour, has filed legal documents that reveal 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' creator failed to pay him for his work during the performances, according to TMZ. Gore's lawyer, Nicholas Andrea, disclosed to XXLMag.com the total amount, which equals $3,600 "for the back wages that he's owed." The remaining $20,000 is for punitive damages, aimed at preventing such a situation from happening again.
The "situation" in question is a hostile work environment, one in which the rapping talent was notorious for subjecting her employees to, says Gore. In the lawsuit, Hill's ex-bandmate reveals she "exhibited the type of behavior for which she had gained public notoriety which contributed to a hostile work environment." He also stated that after shows, "...Hill would demand that the musicians and road support personnel attend meetings where she would engage in a person-by-person critique and berating."
Lauryn Hill, who publicly addressed the rumors surrounding whether or not Rohan Marley fathered her sixth child, has yet to release a statement regarding Jay Gore's lawsuit.
