BEANIE SIGEL PLEADS GUILTY TO INCOME TAX EVASION

Wednesday, August 10, 20110 comments

Philly rapper Beanie Sigel may be facing prison time again, after pleading guilty to income tax evasion.

In 2010, the 37-year-old former Jay-Zassociate, born Dwight Grant, was charged with three counts of failure to file income tax returns on earnings from the years 2003-2005, when he was signed with Roc-A-Fella Records.

ABC News reports that Sigel entered his plea in a federal court in Philadelphia earlier today (August 9), admitting that he failed to pay tax on the income. U.S. prosecutors contend that he owes $350,000 on $1 million in unreported income, but his defense attorney intends to challenge that amount.

Sigel is due back in court on November 18 for sentencing. If found guilty he faces up to three years in prison.

Sigel has a long history of trouble with the law. In 2004, Sigel was sentenced to a year in prison on federal weapons charges. He was sent back to prison in 2008 for numerous parole violations, and was arrested in 2009 for possession of marijuana.
