HipHopJunkiez & Our Executive Journalist @Lady_Salt68 had the chance to interview a living legend. Check out our interview with Kool G Rap

Voice deep full of life and confidence; swagger untouched to ordinary rappers. Kool G Rap is an example of how Hip Hop will never die. I was honored and privileged to sit down and speak to this phenomenal lyricist. Being that rap over the years has evolved this connoisseur of Rap seem to be unfazed by the game and has always been eager to give the fans exactly what they want. Kool, if I may call him that because, he is just that smooth; expressed that being from Queens, NY at the age of 9 falling in Love with Hip Hop was not a choice. “It was a natural feeling which became an addiction”, that he developed when he listened to some of the “Greats”; such as Curtis Blow, Melly Mel, and Run DMC. Rap hands down has always been his choice of life; it takes a real person with passion and will to triumph any obstacle to stay in the Rap game long as Kool has. Remembering an outstanding feeling in our interview he stated the best moment that he can recall is being one of the few to be able to perform over seas; back then crossing over and sharing your remarkable talents with the world was a goal few accomplished.

Now that rap has evolved into some what of a freak show “In my opinion”, it’s hard to find quality music. Kool feels that the game has changed drastically, it has less feeling and passion when some artist begin to spit on the mic. Now days its all about the hype the fame and fortune but, remember all that glitters is not gold. In these times that we stand in he mentioned the industry has become too easy to become apart of; and this is for good and bad reasons. If a rapper doesn’t suffer or hustle for his music; then what good is he or she to the game. For Kool; rap is no fun if you can’t enjoy making music and this causes a dilemma when you stop enjoying your passion, because in the end he explained it reflects your music. For a lyricist you never want to be in that state of mind where you lose your drive your spunk and that light dims forcing you to take a back seat in your career. The biggest lesson learned that he shared with me is to be able to own your music which is like your soul. It’s hard these days to own your own publishing and masters for this is great advice for up coming newbie’s in the industry. He shared great respect for artist like Jay -Z and Eminem because; there rap moguls and business men and played the industry game very smartly.

When asked “What’s was in his Ipod?” his response was his work. Others would think that was a cocky statement but, I on the other hand thought it to be very commendable. If you want to put out great music then listen to your self analyze what you could do differently and how can you make your music great. That’s exactly what Kool G Rap is doing keeping his fans and the world on our toes in anticipation for his next master piece. When asked about “What rapper in his eyes has the potential for longevity in the game?” he said, one on my favorites “ Joel Ortiz”; that said a lot and gave the game a compliment big time. Currently he is working on his on creations and working with some up coming artist; to early to give names. If you haven’t already check out his latest work of art “Offer you can’t Refuse” then you’re behind. Also his upcoming album this year to drop in April “Riches, Royalty & Respect. Looking forward to listening to some hard core music from a “Legend of Hip Hop” Kool G Rap.
