A giant crocodile, considered as one of the largest crocodile, was captured alive in a Philippine creek in Bunawan town of Agusan del Sur last Saturday, September 2, 2011.

Based on the reports of several international news sites on Monday, September 5, the giant male crocodile measures about 21 feet long and weighing 2,370 pounds.

Crocodile farm staff and residents joined hands in capturing the giant crocodile after hunting it down for three weeks. The giant reptile has already killed a fisherman in July and a water buffalo last month.
Four sets of traps were put up in the creek but they were destroyed by the giant crocodile. They were able to successfully capture it by using steel cables on their trap.

There were about 100 people who joined in pulling the giant crocodile off the creek. A crane was used to lift it into a truck.

The giant crocodile is now in a protected area in Agusan del Sur. Officials are reportedly planning to built an ecotourism park to showcase the rare reptile.

According to town mayor Edwin Cox Elorde, the residents of Bunawan is delighted to turn the giant crocodile into an asset rather than a threat by making it “the biggest star of the park.”
