MSNBC is reporting, a Philadelphia abortion doctor has been charged with eight counts of murder for killing a woman patient and 7 babies. Prosecutors are alleging that Dr. Kermit Gosnell delivered the babies through illegal late term abortions and then killed the babies using scissors. The woman died as a result of sepsis and a perforated uterus. The charges were filed after a long grand jury investigation.
This isn’t the first time Gosnell has come under fire. District Attorney Seth Williams said state regulators have ignored complaints and failed to visit the clinic since 1993. Gosnell has also been named in at least 10 malpractice suits from former patients and family members. Williams also said the women were subjected to barbaric conditions in Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society, which has since shut its doors last year.
A local CBS station reports, Gosnell’s wife and eight others were also arrested. Four of the suspects also face multiple murder counts. Gosnell insisted previously that he was innocent of all crimes and predicted that he will be acquitted if he was ever charged.
