Former Officer David Warren received more than 25 years in prison and current Officer Greg McRae was sentenced to more than 17 years, the Justice Department said.
Warren was found guilty of manslaughter in December 2010 for the shooting of 31-year-old Henry Glover.
Prosecutors say Warren shot Glover on September 2, 2005, four days into the massive flooding that swamped the city, with an assault rifle.
According to the indictment, Glover was shot and found bleeding to death by William Tanner, a Good Samaritan who drove him to an elementary school that was being used as temporary police headquarters.
Tanner says however that when he arrived he was beaten by police officers and his car was seized with the dying man in the back seat.
Weeks later he says he found his car burned and charred with Glovers' remains still inside on a levee behind a police station.
There are currently eight investigations pending against NOPD in connection with Hurricane Katrina.
Police officials are accused of killing two unarmed civilians and wounding four on the city's Danzinger Bridge.
