Hip Hop: Dead Or Alive?

Saturday, December 8, 20121comments

Is the art of hip hop really dead? In my opinion a part of it is dying off and that is the art of rhyming. Dudes nowadays are straight wack. Im not only saying that there is a lack of substance, look at Wu-Tang as a whole or better yet Raekwon with Only Built For Cuban Linx pt.1 the whole album was about drugs, money, girls with very little substance, but the rhyming & the commentary added was like a well put together movie of a crew coming out of Staten Island. It still is one of my favorite albums ever. I believe the problem is the lack of passion, love, hunger, drive. Its too easy to get a record deal or blow up nowadays. If you have a cool beat or a catchy hook you can get a deal. I dont really blame cats for wanting to make money even though their Mics skills. The biggest question is; Does it have to make sense if it makes dollars
